SOUTH SIDE. RTAINING WALL. BVILLE GARDNER & DAVIS [handwritten front caption]
Description
A sepia postcard featuring the South Side Retaining [sic] Wall. The postcard seems to be capturing preparations for the construction of a possible canal as shown by the trestles supporting the sides of the embankment. A wide ditch houses countless rocks, small puddles of water, and piles of lumber. An industrial townscape is visible on the left and far right of the postcard. Wires from utility poles run across the site. On the left of the embankment, trees grow and on the right of them a water tower is prominent in the far distance.
