ERIE CANAL MIDDLEPORT N.Y. [white handwritten front caption, MIDDLEPORT N.Y. written twice]
Description
The black & white postcard shows a view of the Erie Canal, presumably as seen from the right bank. The left side is featured prominently; a towpath that runs alongside the canal is lined by a row of houses. Various stairways lead up to the porch of the first house; another stairway leads up to the second house. Trees can be seen, as well as awnings, utility poles, and numerous signs and notices. There are two bridges over the canal; the one furthest away appears to be a truss bridge.. The canal's surroundings are reflected in the water; the structures closest can be seen very distinctly. The postcard appears to be somewhat damaged on the upper left side.
